Doha, Qatar - Startup investment activity across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) rebounded strongly during the second week of August 2026, with announced funding reaching $49.5 million across four deals. The total represents a significant increase of $40.5 million compared to the previous week, highlighting renewed investor confidence across key technology sectors.

According to data compiled by entArabi for the period between August 8 and August 15, the week's investments were concentrated in fintech, healthtech, artificial intelligence, and gaming, with Qatar accounting for the overwhelming majority of capital deployed.

Qatar Drives Regional Funding Activity

Qatar emerged as the region's leading investment destination, attracting approximately 91% of the week's total startup funding through a single major fintech transaction.

The largest deal was secured by fintech company Yuno, which raised $45 million in a Series B funding round to accelerate the development and expansion of its AI-powered payment technology platform. The company plans to strengthen its financial infrastructure and expand intelligent payment solutions for businesses operating across global markets.

The funding round was led by GlobalPayTechVentures, with participation from prominent international investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Tiger Global, QuantumLight Capital, Monashees, Kaszek, and Endeavor Catalyst.

The transaction further reinforces Qatar's growing position as a regional hub for financial technology innovation and highlights sustained investor appetite for AI-enabled financial services.

Jordan Expands Regional Healthtech Presence

Jordan recorded the second-largest investment of the week through the digital mental health sector.

Mental health platform Arab Therapy secured $2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round, providing new capital to support its regional expansion strategy. The company intends to scale its services across Saudi Arabia and additional Middle Eastern markets, responding to growing demand for accessible digital mental healthcare solutions.

The investment was led by Manara Ventures, with additional participation from Anara Impact Fund and Saudi Arabia's Value Makers Studio (VMS).

The transaction reflects continued investor interest in digital healthcare platforms addressing underserved segments of the regional healthcare market.

Saudi Arabia Advances Gaming Industry

Saudi Arabia's expanding gaming ecosystem also attracted fresh investment during the week.

Gaming developer Majestic Mind Games raised $1.45 million in a funding round led by Merak Capital and Impact46. The investment will support the studio's game development pipeline while contributing to the Kingdom's broader ambitions of becoming a regional leader in gaming and interactive digital entertainment.

The deal aligns with Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to diversify its digital economy through investments in gaming, esports, and creative technologies.

UAE AI Startup Secures Early-Stage Capital

Artificial intelligence remained an active investment theme, with UAE-based startup Cobi closing a $1 million pre-seed funding round.

The round was led by Lunara Partners, alongside participation from Plug and Play, Annex Investments, and Spring. The new funding will enable the company to further develop its AI platform and accelerate product growth during its early expansion phase.

The investment highlights continued confidence in emerging AI startups across the Gulf, particularly those developing enterprise-focused technologies.

Fintech Continues to Lead Investment Landscape

The week's investment activity underscores fintech's continued dominance within the MENA startup ecosystem, accounting for more than 90% of total announced funding. While the remaining investments were spread across healthtech, gaming, and artificial intelligence, they demonstrate the region's increasingly diversified innovation landscape and sustained investor interest in high-growth technology sectors.

With nearly $50 million invested in a single week, the latest funding activity signals continued momentum for MENA's startup ecosystem, supported by growing participation from both regional and international venture capital firms.
