Doha, Qatar — September 23, 2026. Invest Qatar, Qatar's investment promotion agency, has signed a new partnership with global investment group Aurion Capital and LG NOVA, LG Electronics' Silicon Valley-based innovation arm, to expand technology investment and venture-building activity in Qatar and across the wider Gulf region. The agreement was announced in New York during a special Qatar Economic Forum session held on the sidelines of the 2026 United Nations General Assembly.

What the deal covers
The three parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding that sets out a collaboration framework focused on innovation programs and scale-up support across artificial intelligence, digital health, fintech, digital infrastructure, sports, media and entertainment. As part of the plan, LG NOVA will establish a new hub at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), intended to serve as a regional platform for LG NOVA-affiliated technologies and ventures looking to expand across the GCC and MENA.
Aurion Capital brings two existing investment vehicles to the table: NovaWave Capital, which manages $100 million in assets, and BYL Ventures, which manages a further $70 million — capital that could flow toward ventures emerging from or scaling through the new Doha hub.
Why the partners are backing it
Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, CEO of Invest Qatar, said the collaboration "reflects Qatar's multilateral strength," pointing to the country's R&D ecosystem, talent pipeline and pro-business environment as reasons it can "test, deploy and commercialise advanced technologies." Aurion Capital's founding CEO, Ali Diallo, described Qatar's "ambition, investment ecosystem, and strategic position between East and West" as making it "one of the world's most compelling destinations for innovation-led growth." Sokwoo Rhee, LG Electronics' EVP of Corporate Innovation, tied the move to the wider AI wave reshaping global industry, saying it is "creating extensive opportunities for new business and industry growth."
A wider signal for Qatar's ecosystem
For Qatar's startup and innovation community, the headline detail is the planned LG NOVA hub inside QSTP. A physical foothold for a major global corporate innovation arm gives local founders a more direct route to corporate partnerships, pilot opportunities and follow-on capital — the kind of support that grant or accelerator funding alone doesn't provide. The deal also sits squarely inside Qatar's National Development Strategy (NDS3) push to diversify the economy away from hydrocarbons, adding another international name to the growing list of foreign investors and corporates positioning themselves inside Qatar's entrepreneurship infrastructure.
