QFC and Ahli Bank Partner to Advance Fintech and Digital Assets in Qatar

Doha, Qatar – Qatar Financial Centre has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ahli Bank Q.P.S.C. to support fintech innovation, digital transformation and the continued development of Qatar’s financial services sector.

The partnership will focus on developing digital financial solutions, exploring digital assets and tokenisation use cases, and supporting the adoption of emerging financial technologies through the QFC Digital Assets Lab.

Driving fintech innovation

Through the agreement, QFC and Ahli Bank will work with technology providers, startups and wider ecosystem partners to identify, test and commercialise new financial technology solutions.

The collaboration is expected to include pilot programmes with technology firms operating within QFC, helping move fintech ideas from experimentation to real-world implementation. This is especially important for startups and innovators working in areas such as digital assets, tokenisation, financial infrastructure and digital banking services. 

Role of the QFC Digital Assets Lab

A central part of the agreement is the QFC Digital Assets Lab, which provides a platform for developing and testing digital financial solutions in a controlled innovation environment.

By using the Lab, both organisations aim to explore practical applications of tokenisation and digital assets, while supporting stronger collaboration between banks, startups, technology companies and regulators. 

Strengthening Qatar’s financial ecosystem

The MoU also includes plans for joint workshops, events and knowledge-sharing initiatives to support capability building across Qatar’s financial services sector.

For Qatar’s fintech ecosystem, the partnership reflects a wider push to create more pathways for innovation, attract financial technology companies to the country and position Qatar as a regional hub for digital finance.

The agreement also supports broader national efforts to diversify the economy and strengthen Qatar’s role as a knowledge-based, innovation-driven financial centre.
