QFC Introduces Business Continuity Measures to Support Firms and Startups
- by Falak .
Doha, Qatar - Qatar Financial Centre has introduced a targeted support package aimed at helping registered firms maintain operations and manage compliance requirements during current regional developments.
The measures are part of a wider national effort by Qatar to support the private sector, preserve market stability, and strengthen business confidence during a period of operational and financial uncertainty. QFC said the package is designed to provide practical flexibility for firms while maintaining the resilience of its business ecosystem.
The new measures include extensions for filing audited financial statements, giving firms additional time to complete key reporting obligations.
QFC will also provide case-by-case flexibility on tax filing timelines, allowing companies facing specific operational challenges to request adjusted deadlines where appropriate. This targeted approach is intended to reduce compliance pressure while allowing businesses to focus on continuity and core operations.
Startups registered under QFC will also benefit from temporary relief measures linked to workspace arrangements.
The support is particularly relevant for early-stage companies, which are often more exposed to short-term cost pressures and operational disruptions. By easing selected workspace-related obligations, QFC aims to help startups maintain stability while continuing to develop their activities in Qatar.
The QFC measures form part of a broader national package introduced to support Qatar’s business community. Wider relief efforts include financial, regulatory, and operational support delivered through several institutions, including Invest Qatar, QFC, Qatar Free Zones Authority, and other national entities.
According to the wider support package, Invest Qatar continues to offer up to 40% support on eligible local expenses through the National Incentives Programme, which has supported QAR 2.8 billion in investment projects and helped create more than 900 jobs. QFC and Qatar Free Zones Authority have also activated measures such as rent waivers, payment deferrals, and lease extensions for affected tenants.
QFC currently supports a business community of more than 4,400 firms, reinforcing its role as one of Qatar’s key platforms for international and local companies. Earlier this month, QFC reported the addition of more than 800 new firms during the first quarter of 2026, representing 57% year-on-year growth compared with the same period in 2025.
The latest measures build on this growth by helping companies remain operational while navigating short-term challenges. They also align with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy, which focuses on economic resilience, private-sector growth, and long-term diversification.
The package reflects Qatar’s continued focus on maintaining a stable and responsive business environment. By offering deadline flexibility, tax-related support, and temporary startup relief, QFC is seeking to reduce operational pressure without disrupting regulatory standards.
The measures are expected to support firms in sustaining activity, protecting business continuity, and maintaining confidence in Qatar’s investment environment during a period of regional uncertainty.
