Qatari Startup Anabolic Mechanics Advances Local 3D Printing Innovation

Doha, Qatar - Qatari startup Anabolic Mechanics is strengthening Qatar’s growing advanced manufacturing landscape through the development of locally built 3D printing technologies designed for education, healthcare, industry and product development.

The company has developed DualCore, a 3D printer built around a dual-printing system that allows two print heads to operate simultaneously on the same part. The system is designed to speed up production when compared with conventional 3D printing processes, supporting faster prototyping and more efficient manufacturing workflows. 

A local model for advanced manufacturing

Anabolic Mechanics represents a growing wave of Qatari startups working to localize advanced technology development. By building 3D printing equipment in Qatar, the company aims to reduce reliance on external suppliers while expanding access to modern manufacturing tools across the local market.

The startup’s work comes as Qatar places increasing focus on additive manufacturing as part of its broader move toward smart manufacturing, industrial resilience and technology localization. The company received early support from local entities including Qatar Development Bank and Ooredoo, helping it prepare the technology for market launch. 

This reflects the wider role of national institutions in enabling startups to test, develop and commercialize technology-based solutions. Qatar Development Bank has also highlighted additive manufacturing as a promising area for SMEs, particularly because it can lower production barriers, support rapid prototyping and help businesses bring products to market more quickly. 

Applications in healthcare, education and industry

Beyond developing and supplying 3D printers, Anabolic Mechanics also provides consulting services, training programmes and workshops for schools, universities and institutions. These activities aim to make 3D printing more accessible and practical for students, entrepreneurs and industrial users. 

The startup has already applied its technology in real-world use cases in Qatar. In healthcare, medical imaging data can be converted into accurate physical models that support surgical planning and procedures. The technology has also been used in product testing and local manufacturing, showing how 3D printing can support different sectors with flexible, customized production. 

Part of Qatar’s wider 3D printing push

Qatar has been expanding the use of 3D printing across multiple sectors, including construction and infrastructure. In 2025, Ashghal announced a project to construct two schools using 3D printing technology, reflecting the country’s interest in faster, more sustainable and cost-effective building methods. 

Academic research has also identified additive manufacturing as a strategic opportunity for Qatar’s manufacturing sector, particularly in areas such as energy, spare parts production and industrial diversification. However, research also notes that broader adoption will require stronger skills, technical expertise and supply-chain readiness.
